St. Alphonsa Forane Church has been officially declared a Franciscan Pilgrimage Centre as part of the Franciscan Year proclaimed in connection with the 800th death anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi.

The official declaration was made on Sunday, April 12, at 4:30 PM by the Vicar General of Thamarassery Diocese, Msgr. Abraham Vayalil, who read out the decree. The ceremony included the opening of a specially prepared Holy Door, the installation of the statue of St. Francis of Assisi, and the celebration of Holy Mass.

This is the only Franciscan pilgrimage centre in Malappuram district. Special Holy Mass and devotions will be held every Saturday at 5 PM until January 10, 2027, as announced by Vicar Fr. Jils Karikunnel.

The faithful who visit the centre, receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, participate in the Holy Eucharist, pray for the intentions of the Pope, and perform acts of charity are granted plenary indulgence during this period.
