INDIAN FARMER’S MOVEMENT (INFAM)

Indian farmer’s Movement (INFAM) is an organization of famers, working for the overall development of the farmers and village community all over India. It is a secular organization, which is trying to organize and unify the farmers regardless of cast, colour, religion and politics. The principal aim of this organization is to instill self-confidence, mutual co-operation and unity among the farmers and help them to grow the awareness of nationality and social commitment, and thus work together for a welfare nation. Besides, whenever there occurs problems like, decline of price for the cultivation, natural calamities, attack of the wild animals, problems connected with land revenue and the possession rights of the farmers, stand with them and fight to attain their rights.

It started in the year 2000 in Kerala as a secular famer’s movement and later in order to give proper structure and guidance, the Christians took the lead and now it works under Kerala Catholic Bishop’s Conference (KCBC). The diocese of Thamarassery has played a decisive role in the starting stage of this organization under the leadership of late Msgr. Antony Kozuvanal. He has done a stupendous effort for the welfare of the farmers all over India especially in Kerala.
