Palliative Care Workers Represent the Face of Christ: Bishop Remigiose Inchananiyil

News

Palliative care workers serve as true representatives of Christ by offering comfort to those in pain, said Bishop Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil. He was delivering the inaugural address at the annual conference of St. Alphonsa Palliative and Geriatric Care held at the PMOC in Marykunnu.

“Those who can see the face of Christ in the sick and the helpless are the ones truly capable of serving them with compassion,” the bishop remarked. “Palliative care workers are not merely volunteers; they are living witnesses of the Gospel message — ‘Go and do likewise.’ Their strength and perseverance stem from the grace and love of God.”

The bishop commended the silent, selfless commitment of palliative care workers, describing their efforts as acts rooted in divine love rather than material reward.

The meeting was presided over by Fr. Mathew Kulathingal, Director of St. Alphonsa Palliative and Geriatric Care. Fr. Roy Thekkumkattil, Director of PMOC, along with other dignitaries including Mathew Therakam and T. O. John, also addressed the gathering.

M. G. Praveen, State Convenor of Palliative Care, led awareness sessions as part of the event.

A highlight of the program was the honoring of Mr. K. J. Jaison Kannukuzhiyil, who has donated blood 119 times over the past 33 years, reflecting a lifelong commitment to saving lives.
