News

The Department of Catechism of the Thamarassery Diocese successfully organized 'Emmaus Meet 2026,' a grand convention for Sunday school catechism teachers, at the Bethania Renewal Centre in Pullurampara.

The public meeting was officially inaugurated by Bishop Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil. In his inaugural address, the Bishop emphasized that the Holy Eucharist and the Word of God serve as the ultimate sources of inspiration for dedicating one's life to the service of the Church. He noted that hearts are set ablaze with faith when the Word of God is actively shared.

Msgr Abraham Vayalil, Vicar General of the diocese, delivered the benedictory address, while renowned preacher Baby John Kalayanthani delivered the keynote spiritual message.

The convention marked the launch of 'Bible Journey,' an ambitious initiative aimed at reading the Word of God over a span of 1,000 days. Alongside this project, new books focusing on faith transmission and family catechesis were officially released during the event.

As part of the ceremony, the department honored its jubilarian teachers for their long-standing service, alongside other students and teachers who secured excellence in academic and co-curricular fields.

Shiju Muttungal (Diocesan President), Fr. John Pallikkavayalil (Diocesan Director, Department of Catechism), Fr. Rony Paul Kavil (Director of Bethania), Baby Veliyamkulath, and Babu Chettiparambil also addressed the gathering. A large number of catechism teachers from various parishes across the diocese attended the convention.
