The 1700th anniversary of the historic First Council of Nicaea (AD 325) was commemorated in a solemn gathering organized by the United Christian Forum, Kodancherry Region.

The event was inaugurated by H.G. Paulose Mor Ireneus, Metropolitan of the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, Kozhikode Diocese, who emphasized that the true essence of the Nicaean Council is unity and love among Christians. Bishop Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil presided over the function and underlined the ongoing relevance of Christian unity in today’s world.

Rev. Dr. Jose Pennaparambil, Director of the Ecumenism Commission of Thamarassery Diocese and Director of UCF Kodancherry Region, delivered a keynote address. Also present were Forane Vicar Fr. Kuriakose Aikkulambil and UCF Regional Secretary Fr. Basil Thampi Padinjarekkara. Other dignitaries who spoke included Fr. Skaria Eenthalamkuzhiyil, Fr. Anoop Alexander, Fr. Aby Chirayil, Fr. Shijo Thanniyamkattayil, and Rev. Rino John.

Special sessions were led by H.G. Mathews Mor Aphrem, Metropolitan of the Perumbavoor Region, and Fr. Antony Tharekadavil, Professor at Good Shepherd Major Seminary, Kunnoth.
